Back to Looking up!!!

So, it seems I just needed to get all of that negative energy out! Since my last blog, everything has had a sudden turn around, yay!!!

Thankfully the floods are not looking as grim as they were, each day the expected peak has been dropping, it is now expected to be 7.3m, and not to reach the Rocky sector until late tommorow night, or even Saturday morning! The day doesn't mean so much to the victims, but the level on the other hand is a big deal. At this level, many people will still be affected, only blocks away from where I live mostly, but nowhere near as bad as it could have been, most people in this area are prepared for this level and have therfore raised their homes, at this level these homes shouldn't have water above their floorboards, I bet they are breathing a sigh of relief. So, apart from water in their yards, and Ergon switching off their power for safety reasons, they won't be affected anywhere near as bad as they could have. I am also breathing a sigh of relief, I don't think I could have watched it all again, it was heartbreaking enough the first time around, but to happen straight after most people have begun recovering (and many have finished), it is just not fair, you would have to feel like someone really had it in for you!!! Good news!!!

I have been offered another job again ... But, for once I am happy to decline, because WE ARE MOVING TO BRISBANE!!! I am so unbelievably happy about this move AWAY from Rockhampton! Dan has been offered a Bayside Tavern. At this stage I am not totally sure what the name of the tavern is, but we have the figures and know it is a bigger and better pub than Trinity, and the paypacket is much nicer too ... So, as you can imagine, Dan is feeling pretty proud of himself, and I am feeling pretty proud of him too!!!

For the second time this year Taylah has come home with a great award!!! She got Student of the Week at the beginning of the term, today she came home with a Gold Award. A letter also accompanied this award explaining how the colours work, Gold, obviosuly the top award, then Silver, Bronze and a Blue award ... Makes it so much better knowing just how great she is compared to others, not that I am bragging, or anything ;)

Aaaaargh ... Just letting it all out ... Nicely!

I haven't blogged in a little while, not because I haven't had the time, unfortunately, but because nothing seems to be going right at the moment!!!

I lost my job, not for my performance, but company finances, being replaced by someone younger really hit home that I am getting older. It has never bothered me before now, but the realisation that there are alot more cheaper people to hire out there other than me has me hating the idea! I have no idea what I am going to do! I am bored, broke and now days classed as old and expensive!!!

Dan's tavern got held up, AGAIN!!! I just don't understand how these people go to sleep at night! Thankfully they got caught this time, and were refused bail!!! They were also found guilty on a couple of other armed robberies, the mistake they made this time was actually firing a shot!!! In a way I am glad though, these two in particulars have held up 4 pubs now, terrorising locals and staff, it's just not fair, I really hope they go away for a really long time!!!

Rocky is back in flood ... At this stage the expected peak is between 8 and 8.5m, which in hindsight is lower than the last flood, and the waters will go down a little bit faster. I think the hardest thing I am dealing with is the lower level isn't sparing people their houses, but sparing the highway and airport. Living only a block away from the affected area's I have watched first hand the heartbreak and despair in people's eyes while they watch their homes go under water and there is nothing they can do about it, but the mayor and council continue to assure us that it's not as bad as last year because we won't lose our airport or highway ... Well, I wish it could be the other way around, these people don't deserve to lose everything again, the highway still hasn't been repaired properly, let it go under!!!

While everything feels like it's crumbling in Rocky right now for us, we have lot's of exciting things to look forward too! Moving to the Gold Coast is high on that list, for many reasons, most in particular to be close to some friends and family again will be nice, and to be in a town with cheap airfare's back home to Cairns, that has got to be one of the most exciting things (in my opinion) ... Taylah is counting on the theme parks (me too) and Daniel is keen to get back into surfing!!! The girls and I would also like to get into it too, a nice family adventure I am assuming ;)

We are excited to have already planned 2 trips back home, coming home to meet the new bubba Hope, and a new member of the Sykes family too!!! These two occasions will certainly be the highlight of 2012 I think! In my (possible depression, but more likely just needing attention, lol) I have even started planning actually getting Taylah (hopefully both girls, if it is going to be possible) baptised!!! Better late than never I guess! I am literally praying she gets into a Catholic school when we get to Goldy, the public system is HORRIBLE, and really, I just want the best for my girls, and I do honestly believe the Catholic Education System is the best for them!!!
